Welcome

Project Strive

Project Strive is a federally-funded TRIO-Student Support Services (SSS) program, which is a program of the U.S. Department of Education. Chadron State College was awarded a renewable grant to fund this program and assist its population of eligible students.

Project Strive, located in the Lower Level of the Reta King Library, offers free services to those who are eligible and currently enrolled in the program designed to motivate and support qualified college students. This academic enrichment program is committed to helping college students persist to graduation through encouragement, support, and a wide range of activities. The Project Strive program may also provide grant aid to current SSS participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants.

Our Goal

Our goal is to increase the academic success, retention, and graduation rates of our participants. Additional objectives include career exploration, cultural and social enrichment, and self-awareness.

Project Strive Testimonials

Samuel McKinley “I think of Project Strive as a great resource for all students who need a little help. They are always a helping hand in the Chadron State community. I can’t be more grateful for how they impact the students here at Chadron State. They are so supportive of the whole CSC community. My favorite part of Project Strive is that as soon as you are a part of the program, you are part of a community. Going into college, you don’t really know a lot of people. It is awesome to go into college where you don’t know anyone and go into Project Strive and already have some friends.” Samuel McKinley

Tevon Wright & Louis Smith “When I think about Project Strive, the first thing that comes to mind is it is a welcoming environment and a place of comfort. It is genuine. Everyone here is very happy and helpful. I like having someone to go to as a mentor. Everyone should take advantage of it if they go to school here. It is a great program and helps you in so many ways.” Tevon Wright

“Project Strive/TRiO provides me with materials when I need them and helps me with all of the little things. It is a family away from home.” Louis Smith

Gina Rieger “It is a home away from home. They are always super helpful and are willing to put down anything to help you.” Gina Rieger

Gabriela Perez “Everyone’s so positive and your friends are there. I love going in and being able to talk to anyone and everyone. It makes my day.” Gabriela Perez

Amanda Lunkwitz

“The Project Strive TRiO staff is great. They organize fun activities to take your mind off school. When you’ve had a rough day, they’re always there to listen, lend an ear and give you support. I’ve borrowed textbooks from them and I always enjoy going there.” Amanda Lunkwitz

Nigel Jones “They’ve helped me a lot. They are the reason why I stayed. They’ve provided me with resources, texts, tutors and positive reinforcement.” Nigel Jones

Fredrick Culp “I learned a good college work ethic in this program. I picked up study skills and got all my homework done. I see myself as a leader now.” Frederick Culp Jr.
