Supplemental Endorsement in Coaching (7-12)

A Supplemental Coaching Endorsement prepares educators with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively coach student-athletes in school-based sport programs. The endorsement provides foundational preparation in coaching philosophy, athlete development, sport skills and strategies, leadership, communication, motivation, safety, injury prevention, and ethical decision-making. Candidates learn to create positive and inclusive team environments while supporting the physical, social, and emotional development of student-athletes. The endorsement is designed to complement an existing teaching degree and provide the preparation necessary for individuals seeking coaching opportunities in middle and secondary school athletic programs.
