Your First Semester

We tailor your first semester course schedule according to your academic needs, ACT/SAT scores, and placement test results.

During your first semester, you may be limited to 12-14 credits depending on your placement. A student taking 12-14 credits is considered full time for financial aid, housing, and athletic eligibility purposes. This model is based upon national programs that are recognized for their promotion of student success and is designed to help you succeed in your first semester.

TSP classes will count as elective credit, and therefore be part of your degree. They do not add time or credit requirements to most degrees.

Your first semester courses will consist of the following (depending on your individual placement):

English - ENG 111: Intro to College Writing/ENG 135: Rhetoric & Writing 3-4 cr.
Mathematics - MATH 101: Pre-Algebra, MATH 102: Pre-College Algebra, or an Essential Studies Math course 3-4 cr.
EDUC 121: The Academic Life 3 cr.
Major Course/Essential Studies Course 3 cr.
TOTAL 12-13 credits
