Rural Health Opportunities ProgramRHOP Students

RHOP is a cooperative program between Chadron State College and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Students admitted into this program must be from rural Nebraska. Upon selection into the program, students are automatically pre-admitted into their specific program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Students are strongly encouraged and expected to return to the rural areas of Nebraska to practice.

This program offers the following options

Nursing 2 yrs/2 yrs up to 5 UNMC - Scottsbluff
Pharmacy 3 yrs/4 yrs up to 3 UNMC - Omaha
Physical Therapy 4 yrs/3 yrs up to 3 UNMC - Omaha
Physician Assistant 4 yrs/28 mos up to 3 UNMC - Omaha
Radiography 2 yrs/2 yrs up to 2 UNMC - Omaha

Who Can Apply

To be eligible for RHOP, the applicant MUST:

  1. Be a rural Nebraska resident (excluding the cities of Omaha and Lincoln).
  2. Be a rural Nebraska high school graduate.
  3. Have applied and been accepted to Chadron State College.
  4. Apply to only one RHOP program at either Chadron State College, Wayne State College or Peru State College.
  5. Demonstrate strong academic potential - minimum 24 ACT Composite, preferred.
  6. Be committed to practice in a rural Nebraska area.

Benefits

  • All RHOP participants receive a RHOP Tuition Waiver for the years they attend CSC.
  • All participants receive early acceptance into UNMC.
  • Have recognition of their participation in RHOP and as a future health care provider.

Selection Guidelines

Numerous factors are always a part of the selection process. Special consideration will be given to applicants who:

  • Demonstrate strong academic potential - minimum 24 ACT, preferred.
  • Have an understanding of the RHOP program and their discipline of choice.
  • Are committed to returning to rural areas of Nebraska to practice
  • Are from rural Nebraska (excluding the cities of Omaha and Lincoln)

December 1 Deadline

Applications must be completed on-line and printed. The application packet must include the typed application, three letters of recommendation (in sealed envelopes), a copy of the ACT scores, and high school and college transcripts. Please mail complete application packet to: CSC Health Professions Office, 1000 Main St., Chadron, NE 69337. It is the applicant's responsibility to verify a complete application prior to the December 1 deadline.       Click here for an application.
