CSC basketball’s fan appreciation night a success

CHADRON – Over 150 local basketball fans were treated to an entertaining night thanks to the efforts of the Chadron State College men’s and women’s basketball teams Thursday evening during Fan Appreciation Night at Armstrong Gymnasium.

Both CSC teams had an intrasquad scrimmage for 15 minutes. However, the main attractions included a 3-point contest, a slam-dunk contest, and shooting games.

Sarah Gross, a junior from Gillette, Wyo., won the 3-point contest, while Robert Martin, a sophomore from Akron, Ohio, took first place in the slam-dunk contest.

Other winners included Ashley Kerr and Michael Gieseler, both of Chadron, in the youth shooting event. Both Kerr and Gieseler won free admission to a CSC basketball camp.

Jim McGhee of Pine Ridge, S.D., won the community shooting event. He received a CSC basketball warm-up.

The Eagle men open their season Tuesday at Black Hill State in Spearfish, S.D.

The women’s team begins it season Saturday, Nov. 21 at Montana State University-Billings.
