Business Analytics option now offered at CSC

CHADRON – Chadron State College is offering a new Business Analytics option in the Comprehensive Business degree. The new option will prepare students to help businesses use data to make informed decisions, improve efficiency, and remain competitive according to Business Associate Professor Dr. Amir Manzoor.
Manzoor said key courses will build students’ skills step by step. In Data Visualization, students will learn to create charts, dashboards, and visual stories that make data easier to understand. In Applications in Artificial Intelligence, students will explore real-world AI tools, ethical issues, and practical applications. Strategic Business Analytics will examine advanced analytics tools used to support strategic decision-making.
Manzoor, who joined the CSC faculty in 2025, said students in the new option will develop practical, career-ready skills.
“You’ll learn how to turn messy information into clear insights, how to use AI responsibly, and how to make decisions that move an organization forward,” he said. “Whether students are interested in marketing, finance, operations, entrepreneurship, or emerging AI careers, Business Analytics opens doors across every industry. People who know how to use data shape the future.”
Students will work with real datasets, business challenges, and technologies used by companies, and produce a portfolio they can show potential employers.
According to Manzoor, graduates with the degree can pursue a wide range of careers, including business analyst, data analyst, business intelligence specialist, marketing analyst, financial analyst, operations analyst, AI applications specialist, and strategy and insights consultant.
“These roles exist in nearly every industry, such as business, healthcare, government, education, sports, and technology,” Manzoor said.
Manzoor said organizations use analytics to understand customer behavior, improve marketing and sales performance, forecast demand, manage inventory, detect fraud, reduce risk, personalize products and services, and support strategic planning and innovation.
Manzoor said the Business Analytics option is designed with the changing workplace in mind.
“Students won’t just learn theories; they’ll use real tools, solve real problems, and gain skills that employers look for. The combination of analytics, visualization, AI, and strategic decision-making makes this option one of the most modern and relevant pathways in today’s business world,” he said.
Manzoor said the courses are designed to help students turn data into decisions while developing in-demand skills.
“If you choose this path, you’re not just learning tools or techniques. You’re learning how to think in a world driven by data, automation, and intelligent systems,” Manzoor said. “You’ll graduate with the ability to stand out in a competitive job market. If students want a major that is flexible and genuinely valuable, Business Analytics is one of the smartest investments you can make in yourself.”
