Life Around MHall
Art Guild is an organization open to any students (both art majors and non-art majors) who want to experience more art-related activities outside of regular classes. During the school year, we meet weekly to plan service projects, potlucks, hiking trips, and fundraising events such as the Annual Art Guild Christmas Sale where students and area artists sell their work. Art Guild makes a percentage from the sale of the work and then uses the money to go on a spring trip to the big city such as Denver or Minneapolis (see our trip photo gallery)! There is nothing like seeing real art in person. We also take in cultural sights, try local restaurants, and hike and photograph in national parks or scenic areas. We may visit graphic design firms and ad agencies in addition to fine arts sights.
Art Guild also does service projects to help in the community and in the world. Past projects have included gathering school supplies and t-shirts for children in Africa, collecting pillowcases to make dresses for girls overseas, and putting together jean pockets full of helpful goodies and encouraging notes for U.S. service personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In the past we have participated in campus activities such as the CSC Homecoming Bedsheet contest. Below is the "should have won first place" Art Guild bedsheet for Homecoming 2006.
