Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded.

Applicants must:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student

The Family & Community Education Association of Douglas/Sarpy County offers a $500 scholarship as a means of encouraging students to continue college work beyond the freshman year.

Lower Republican NRD Scholarship Program

     Application Deadline: March 31

Two $1000 Scholarships are available broken down to $500 each semester.

Applicants must:

  • Complete the first semester with a 2.75 minimum GPA
  • Permanent residence in the Lower Republican NRD
  • Majoring in a natural resources related field
  • Be a first, second, or third year college student
  • Enrolled full-time in a college in Nebraska
  • Applicant's essay, grades, class ranking, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation will be considered

National Association of Broadcasters
     Application Deadline: January 31

Purpose: The program is intended to fund research on economic, business, social, and policy issues important to station managers and other decision-makers in the U.S. commercial broadcast industry.

Eligibility: The competition is open to all academic personnel. Graduate students and senior undergraduates are invited to submit proposals.

Awards: There is a total of $25,000 in available funding. NAB typically awards four to six grants. Funds are not to be used for overhead or benefits. Grants are disbursed in two equal installments: one after a contract has been signed, and the second upon receipt of the final report, due one year later.

National Federation of the Blind

The National Federation of the Blind gives a broad array of scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for these scholarships must be legally blind and pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time, post-secondary course of study in a degree program at a United States institution in the Fall of 2006.

Nebraska Juvenile Justice Association Scholarship Award

Applicants must:

  • Be a full-time junior or senior attending an accredited college or university in Nebraska
  • Be majoring in criminal justice or a related field (e.g. social work, psychology, mental health)
  • Demonstrate commitment to community and volunteer service
  • Reside in Nebraska and have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (preference given to those with GPA of 2.5 or higher)

The Nebraska Bankers Association offers up to eight $1,000 annual scholarships.

  • Be attending one of the Nebraska state or privately funded colleges or universities (excluding the University of Nebraska)

Omaha Volunteers for Handicapped Children

     Application Deadline: July 15

$1000 MINIMUM, Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarship is divided into two priorities:

  1. To assist the orthopedically impaired and/or the physically disabled to further their education beyond high school
  2. To assist those who serve the orthopedically impaired and/or the physically disabled in their pursuit that leads to quality of life and their quest to be a contributing member to their environment

For Priority 1 - Applicants must:

  • Be a high school Senior or college student
  • Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Nebraska
  • Either be a high school Senior with a 2.25 or C+ equivalent GPA
  • and a high school Senior accepted into the school of their choice
  • or a college student enrolled and making satisfactory progress toward graduation

Submit an essay of not more than 250 works on what their goal is for the future in relation to the orthopedically impaired and/or physically disabled, and their need for this scholarship.

For Priority 2 - Applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Nebraska
  • Be enrolled in a higher education course in the school of their choice
  • Be in pursuit of a Teaching or Health-related degree, with emphasis on the orthopedically impaired and/or physically disabled
  • Making satisfactory progress toward their degree

Submit an essay of not more than 250 words on what their goal is for the future in relation to the orthopedically impaired and/or physically disabled, and their need for this scholarship.

Wyoming Rural Electric Association Scholarship

     Application Deadline: March 1

The WREA line worker scholarship program is intended to help qualified individuals from Wyoming complete an approved regional line worker training program, learn the basics of line work and become an apprentice line worker. The scholarship is available to all qualified applicants, recent high school graduates and older "non-traditional" students, interested in a career in the electric industry.
