First Year Seminar
Sharon Rickenbach talks with students during a First Year Seminar class.
First Year Seminar is a nationally and internationally renowned course dedicated to helping new students (first-year and transfer students in their first semester) succeed. In this elective course, we'll give you valuable tips about how to study, take notes, manage your time, take exams, and keep your sanity!
Since it's beginning in 1972, First Year Seminar has been studied to measure its effect on first-year college students. These studies show that students who take First Year Seminar tend to graduate and exceed their predicted GPAs at higher levels than students who do not take the course.
Whether you've already chosen a career path or are uncertain where you're headed, we'll expose you to a wide range of majors and careers to help you discover and define your interests and abilities, First Year Seminar will give you "positive direction" toward your future!
