All new freshman are expected to attend Freshman Registration & Orientation.
You must REGISTER in advance.

All times and sessions are subject to change. A detailed event agenda will be sent to your EagleMail once you have registered for the event.

All times are MT. Parking is open during these events, park where space is available.

8 a.m. | Check-In | Student Center
During check-in you will receive name tags for you and your registered parents/guests, along with other event materials. You also have the opportunity to take your student ID photo and enjoy light refreshments before the sessions begin.

8:30 a.m. | Welcome & General Session | Student Center
This introductory session will cover the agenda for the day. Each session builds on the next, so it is important you attend and engage in each session throughout the day.

8:40 a.m. | Break Out Sessions/Work-Shops | Student Center
Students and parents will rotate in two groups to each of the following sessions.

To Dos and FERPA
This session will go over your MyCSC To Dos and discuss the important documents required for you to be fully admitted as a CSC student. FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy At) will also be discussed to explain what you need to do to allow us to share information about your student record with your family.
Paying for College
Understanding the costs of attending CSC and having a plan to pay for college is important to your success. During this session we will review financial aid, the anticipated costs for the 2019– 2020 academic year and put together your plan to pay.

9:20 | Understanding your Schedule, Advising & Resources | Student Center
This session will prepare you for the next session when you meet with our academic advisors. During this session we explain our Essential Studies program, the First Year Inquiry (FYI) requirement, why you may or may not have certain courses on your fall schedule and how to read your schedule.

You will also learn how to utilize the START team, your faculty advisor, the Office of Academic Success and other resources to ensure your success as a CSC student.

10:30 a.m. | Academic Advising (Students Only) | Various Locations
You will be taken in groups, based on your academic program, to meet with academic advisors. You will learn about the specific requirements of your program, learn about the opportunities for involvement and connect with other students in your area of interest. You will also review the preliminary course schedule built for you prior to the event and have the chance to make any necessary changes.

10:30 a.m. | Your New Role (Parents/Guests Only) | Student Center
This session will discuss how to navigate your changing role in your student’s life as they transition to independence. We will help you to understand how we do things at CSC so you can provide your student with the guidance and confidence to utilize the resources and tools we provide in and out of the classroom.

11:30 a.m. | Lunch | Student Center
Visit with various CSC faculty and staff and enjoy lunch provided by CSC Dining Services.

Noon | Life at CSC: Residence Life & Student Activities Presentation | Student Center
Learn about life in the residence halls, how to get involved in student activities and what you need to know about your first-year on-campus.

1 - 4 p.m. | Individualized Sessions | Various Locations

Placement Testing (by invitation only)
If you are required to do placement testing during the event, information will be included in your official event confirmation and sent to your EagleMail account.

Disability Services Session (2:00 and 3:00) 
Hear from our Disability Services coordinator about how students can access accommodations, test proctoring, and other equal access services. Service animal and assistance/emotional support animal policies will also be addressed. If you had services under an IEP or Section 504 Plan, you will want to attend this session.

Student Services Open House 
Take this opportunity to visit with individual student services offices to have your questions answered. The full list of offices and locations will be provided upon check-in.

Parent Gathering at the Learning Lab
If your student is doing Placement Testing or busy meeting with another office on campus, you are invited to explore and get to know the staff in the Learning Lab. The Learning Lab provides free tutoring and other academic services to students.

Campus & Residence Hall Tours
Take a spin around campus and see what a room looks like in each of our residence halls.

2019 Freshman Eagle Registration & Orientation Dates

  • Monday, April 15 – Registration closes April 8 
  • Friday, April 26 – Registration closes April 19
  • Friday, May 17 – Registration closes May 10
  • Monday, June 3 – Registration closes May 27
  • Monday, June 10 – Registration closes June 3
  • Friday, June 21 – Registration closes June 14

If you are absolutely unable to attend a Freshman Eagle Registration & Orientation session, you will be required to work with a START advisor over the summer to ensure you are prepared to begin at CSC in the fall. This will be arranged on an individual basis. You will still incur the $100 Orientation fee, even if you are not able to attend. This cannot be appealed.

Cost & Fees

Orientation Fee

  • As a new CSC freshman enrolled in Fall courses at CSC, you are automatically assessed a $100 Orientation fee to your Fall bill–along with your other charges for tuition, fees, room and board.
  • The Orientation fee covers the cost of Freshman Registration & Orientation for you and two guests, as well as your costs for Move-in and Welcome Week events in August.
  • You register yourself and your guests within the Ready to Register form.

Additional Guest Fees

  • Students are charged $50 for each additional guest registered over the age of twelve (12).
  • You register additional guests within the Ready to Register form.

Guest Changes
To add additional guests, change your registered guests, or to cancel your guest registration, please complete the Guest Registration Form at least one week prior to the event. You will need the following information when you are making your change request:

  • Student's first & last name
  • Student's NUID
  • Guest's first & last name

Your Fall Bill

  • Charges for tuition, fees (to include the $100 Orientation fee and any additional guest fees), room and board are reflected on your Fall Bill which you will view in your MyCSC account mid-July.
    • Information about financial aid and billing is provided during sessions at Freshman Registration & Orientation
      • General information can be found by visiting the Business Office web page.
    • Both the Orientation fee and fees for additional guests are flat-rate fees. Fees cannot and will not be prorated if students, parents and/or guests choose not to attend any portion of the event.
