KEARNEY, Neb. – There was a mix of young and old for Chadron State College at the University of Nebraska-Kearney Loper Open on Saturday.

Ryan Fillingame, a freshman at 133 pounds, won three matches to claim fifth place, and Sam Udell, a junior at 285, picked up four wins en route to a fourth place finish to help pace the Eagles in their final action of 2009.

In addition to Fillingame and Udell, two former CSC national champions – Brett Hunter and Josh Majerus – also earned medals while competing unattached.

Hunter, a two-time national champion at 165 and 174 pounds, finished third at 197, while Majerus, a national champ at 197, finished second at 285.

Several other Eagles competed well. Lance Jeffries earned three wins at 149, Jeremy Fillingame claimed three wins at 174, and six unattached wrestlers had at least one victory.

Also winning matches for CSC were Chris Leak at 174 and RJ Boylan and 285.

The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 2, at the Jamestown Open in North Dakota.
