CHADRON – The Chadron State College softball team has received three National Letters of Intent, head coach Rob Stack said.
The Eagles, who signed six players in early June, have added to their depth by inking pitcher Stephanie Townsend, catcher Rebecca Davidson and middle infielder Danielle L’Argent.
Townsend, a native of Roosevelt, Utah, had a stellar sophomore season at Western Nebraska Community College. She posted a 13-4 record, including two saves, and had a 3.80 earned run average. She also played corner infield and outfield positions when not pitching. She hit .330, including 13 doubles and four home runs. She drove in 33 runs and had a slugging percentage of .617.
In addition, she was recently named a junior college Academic All-American.
Davidson, a native of Sparks, Nev., and a transfer from Southwestern Oregon Community College, was a second-team all-conference selection last season while helping lead the Lakers to a 34-10 record. She had a .344 batting average and drove in 21 runs. She also scored 26 runs and an on-base percentage of .459.
L’Argent, like Davidson and Townsend, has some collegiate playing experience. She saw limited action as a freshman at Fresno City College but made the most of her time. In only 10 at-bats, she hit a grand slam, a game-winning home run and drove in eight runs. She was a three-year letter winner at Clovis High School in California and was an all-conference choice her junior season. As a prep senior, she led the team in RBIs and home runs.
CSC now has nine players signed for the 2011 season. Including Townsend, Davidson and L’Argent are transfers Angela Jay of Victoria, British Columbia, Katelyn McBeth of Surrey, British Columbia, and Brittany Chacon of Broomfield, Colo., and three incoming freshmen from Colorado, Danielle Summers of Fort Collins, Aryn Grywusiewicz of Denver, and Katelyn Londo of Colorado Springs.
