Eagle golfers finish third at Mesa State invite

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Sparked by four top 20 finishes, the Chadron State College women’s golf team finished in third place at the Quality Inn Spring Invite Monday in Grand Junction, Colo.

The Eagles shot 749 during the two-day tourney.

Mesa State, which featured individual winner Jennifer Hilts, fired a two-day score of 670 to run away with its own tournament.

Samantha Hanson led the Eagles with a 10th place finish. She shot an 89 during Sunday’s opening round and followed with a 90 to end with a total of 179.

Caitlin Parker was 13th with 185 (94-91) and Alissa Peterson was 15th with 187 (89-98).

Also for CSC, Allison Rowden finished 19th with 198 (103-95) and Michelle Haynes was 23rd with 203 (104-99).

The Eagles will be back in action at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Spring Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., beginning April 18.
