Eagles to host RMAC foes

CHADRON - The Chadron State College wrestling team will be at home twice this week for Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches. The Eagles will host Adams State on Thursday night and Colorado Mines on Saturday night.
Both matches begin at 7 p.m. in the Nelson Physical Activity Center.
Adams State (3-3, 1-1 RMAC) is ranked 10th in the latest National Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Rankings and the Grizzlies feature four ranked wrestlers on their roster, including defending national champions Arsenia Barksdale and Kyle Sand.
This season, Barksdale is ranked No. 1 at 125 pounds, Josh Hensley is fourth at 141, Joey Deaguero is fifth at 157 and Sand is fifth at 197.
The Grizzlies defeated New Mexico Highlands 29-15 last Friday after suffering a 27-25 loss to Colorado State University-Pueblo two days earlier. CSU-Pueblo also bested CSC last week, earning a 24-21 decision in the Eagles’ RMAC opener.
The Orediggers are 0-3 on the season and 0-1 in the RMAC. Jesse Snider, who is ranked seventh at 149, is Mines’ only ranked wrestler. He leads the team with a 20-5 record.
Chadron State’s top wrestlers this season are young. Freshman Dustin Stodola leads CSC with a 14-4 record at 125 pounds and Ryan Fillingame is 13-4 at 133.
