Nov 16, 2009 - Two state champs ink with CSC wrestling team

CHADRON – Damon Lappe and Jordan Debus have each signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to wrestle for Chadron State College next fall.

Lappe is a senior at Douglas High School in Box Elder, S.D., and Debus is a senior at Mitchell High School.

Both Lappe and Debus won a state title their junior years.

Including his title at 171 pounds last winter, Debus has a fourth and a fifth place finish to his credit at the Nebraska State Wrestling Tournament. He’s also claimed three consecutive district championships and been named to the Western Trails Conference team three times.

Debus, who also played football and was named the WTC Most Valuable Player this fall, will most likely wrestle at 184 at CSC.

Lappe, who currently wrestles at 215, is a two-time finalist in the state of South Dakota. He won a state title in 2009 at 215 and finished runner-up at 160 in 2008.

He has also been named to the Black Hills All-Conference Team two times.

Lappe’s brother, Skyler, also wrestled at Chadron State.
