CHADRON –Wins were spread out evenly during Chadron State’s annual Red-White scrimmage Wednesday at the Nelson Physical Activity Center as the White Team claimed six victories, while the Red Team had four.
Three of the Red Team’s victories were major decisions and the fourth was a pin.
The Red Team looked solid in their wins. Ryan Fillingame took a 16-5 major decision from Josh McCance at 133 pounds. Lance Jeffries followed with a 16-7 major decision over Michael Baumann at 149, and Sam Udell also earned a major decision, defeating Casey Norgard at heavyweight, 8-0.
The only pin of the evening came when Zac Sweeney caught Joe Bob Haas at the 2 minute, 38 second mark in their match at 197.
Six wrestlers earned wins on the White Team, five via decision. The winners included Dustin Stodola at 125, Jimmy Savala at 141, Steven Overshiner at 149, Phillip Bullington at 157, Derek Dubas at 165, and Chris Leak at 174.
Zac Sweeney, wrestling at 197 pounds, pinned Joe Bob Haas
The dual started with two wrestle offs at 174 and 197 pounds. Jeremy Fillingame began the dual with a 10-2 major decision over Jake Hunter at 174, and Joe Bob Haas followed with a 6-5 decision over Casey Norgard at 197.
