Nebraska Student Information System (NeSIS) Project Update
February 1, 2010 Issue #2

CSC NeSIS e-News is produced each week to notify the campus of important announcements and progress that is being made with the new PeopleSoft based student information system, aka NeSIS. Previous versions of eNews are archived on the CSC NeSIS Website, http://www.csc.edu/nesis/updates.csc

  • Admissions Application Process
  • Applicant Portal
  • Schedule of Classes

What's Happening this Week?

Students have received notice of their TrueYou userID and password in their EagleMail accounts. After claiming their credentials they are provided with the link to the new PeopleSoft portal, may log in, and become familiar with the new MyCSC.

The Financial Aid team is preparing for the go-live of student financial aid self service through the portal scheduled for mid-February.

Campus Registrar’s Offices and technical staff are focusing on the conversion of enrollment history data scheduled for mid-February.

More about the Portal

The new PeopleSoft portal, MyCSC, provides a web based interface to PeopleSoft services such as admissions resources, financial aid, advising, course registration, on-line bill paying, etc. In addition, the new portal will provide many services including news items, announcements, quick links to student services and the e-learning resources such as Sakai, and a calendar tab. Additional PeopleSoft services will be added to MyCSC as they go-live throughout the spring and summer. The old MyCSC will be retired this summer after data conversions from the old student information system are complete and all services are live in PeopleSoft.

Calendar of Events (Go-Live Schedule)

A Go-Live schedule has been developed and is provided by clicking on the MyCSC link on the CSC home page. The numerous services offered in PeopleSoft will be phased in according to the NeSIS project schedule. As services go-live, the Service name in the chart will be changed into a link. E-mail notices will also be issued to employees and to students. As the NeSIS project progresses additional services will be added to the chart.

Faculty and Staff Access to NeSIS

All faculty and staff will have access to PeopleSoft. Staff accounts will be issued as individuals are trained to work in the PeopleSoft environment. Faculty accounts will be issued in February just prior to the go-live of the faculty portal and associated training sessions.

Because the NeSIS project involves seven State of Nebraska college and university campuses sharing a common authentication system, a new, unique ID is required for access to the PeopleSoft environment. The new ID is printed on CSC ID cards issued beginning with the fall 2009 term.

All faculty and staff should have a new CSC ID card issued as of the beginning of the fall 2009 term. If you are in need of a new ID card, please contact Janet Hartman in Crites Hall room 110.

Changes to Student Bio/Demo Data

From February 1st until late August, current and prospective on-campus students should contact the CSC Admissions Office for changes to their address, phone number, and marital status. Providing these changes to the college will ensure that contact information is consistent and updated. For a short time, CSC will be doing business in both the current and new student information systems so it is important that accurate data is in both databases. Students will once again be able to make these changes themselves when the current student information system is retired and the new system is fully live!
