The Chadron State College Jazz Festival will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014. The CSC Jazz Festival is dedicated to the encouragement of instrumental and vocal jazz in our schools and is open to big bands, combos, and vocal jazz groups at the high school, junior high, or collegiate level. Its purpose is to foster a non-competitive, positive, and supportive learning environment for jazz groups of all skill levels.
The festival will include the following:
By utilizing our own faculty, we have been able to reduce your expenses for this festival, with the hope of increasing participation in the event. The fee for each school system is $50, with a fee of $25 per performing ensemble. In other words, if you bring one performing group, your cost is $75, two groups would be $100, and three would be $125. If you do not have a performing ensemble, but wish to have your students attend the clinics and performances, the cost is $50 for the school.
Directors may choose to have the students buy lunch in our cafeteria or bus the students to one of the fast food restaurants in town. CSC Jazz Festival t-shirts will be available for purchase.
In an effort to streamline our educational offerings and to focus on the expertise that our faculty has to offer, we have discontinued show choir participation at this festival. The CSC Music Department can best serve the needs of area jazz groups. We certainly encourage middle school and high school participation in other performing ensembles, and hope your show choir’s educational needs will be met by other events in the state.
Please contact Dr. Michael Stephens at 308-432-6320 or email@example.com with any questions about the festival.
