Our primary goal is to prepare musicians for careers in Music Education, Music Industry, or Applied Music. The development of teaching strategies, critical thinking, and communication skills is an important part in the study of music at Chadron State College. The students are given the opportunity to develop networking and marketing skills as performers and as educators.
Each of our seven full-time faculty members work directly with students at all levels of classroom and individual instruction. All hold advanced degrees in their specializations and many possess additional certifications. They also bring a wealth of professional experience to the teaching arena, and maintain active performing schedules.
Our music students also enjoy numerous features that make our program unique:
CHADRON –The Chadron State College Music Department has several performances scheduled during the fall semester. All events are free and open to the public.
On Sept. 9, Dr. Brooks Hafey, assistant professor of music, opens the schedule with a piano recital at 3 p.m. in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center’s Chicoine Atrium. This will be the fourth of five performances
