Eagle golfers finish 8th at home invite

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – The Chadron State College women’s golf team shot a 375 during the final round of the second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Invitational of the fall season.

Chadron State, which hosted the tournament at Scotts Bluff Country Club, finished in eighth place.

Western New Mexico erased Adams State’s 5-stroke advantage after the first 18 holes to claim the team title with a 36-hole total of 640. The Grizzlies were second with 646, Colorado Mesa was third with 351 and Regis was fourth with 653.

In addition to winning the team title, the Mustangs had the top two individual golfers. Faylyn Beyale and Arrianna Estrada each shot 11 over par (155).

Chadron State had three golfers finish in the top 40 during the nine-team tourney. Emilee Pilkington fired a two-day score of 171 to lead the team. Michelle Haynes finished with a score of 187 and Chelsea Murell was in 40th with a 190.

Also for Chadron State, Brittany Herrera shot a 198 and Ashley Kurtz finished with 199.

Chadron State’s three remaining golfers also played but their scores didn’t count toward the team total. Kinlee Ginn shot a 218, Nicole Tlustos finished with a 221 and Kinsie Hanson shot a 227.

The Eagles will be back on the course this weekend at a crossover tournament between the RMAC and the Northern Sun at Tiberon Golf Course in Omaha.
