Chadron State College's comprehensive fundraising campaign has received major boost from the First National Bank of North Platte.
Representatives of FNB North Platte announced on Tuesday, Jan. 18, a $100,000 gift to the Chadron State Foundation’s Vision 2011 campaign.
CSC’s campaign, set to wrap up late this year as a highlight of the institution’s centennial celebration, was initiated to boost the foundation’s capital, endowments and annual fund. About $4 million of the funds will be used for two capital projects: the construction of the new Rangeland Agriculture Center and Pavilion, and the Events Center. The latter will be created from the renovation and expansion of the Ross Armstrong Physical Education Building.
The Foundation will use $5 million to boost its endowments, to assist with everything from scholarships and equipment to student and faculty support. The remaining $2 million is being raised through the annual fall fund drive and phonathon to provide immediate support to campus.
With locations in the trade areas of North Platte, Alliance, Scottsbluff and Chadron, FNB North Platte shares much of the same service region as CSC.
“Chadron State College is a diamond in western Nebraska,” said Rick Kolkman, president of FNB North Platte. “It has a solid administration, faculty and staff. I can’t imagine western Nebraska without this institution to educate our leaders, motivate us to expand our horizons, and move us forward economically. The growth of the foundation and support for this campaign demonstrates that many others see CSC as we at First National Bank North Platte do – a great investment in our future.”
Dr. Janie Park, CSC president, said the gift will go a long way toward helping the institution achieve its mission of educating future generations.
“We are thankful the First National Bank of North Platte has recognized our campaign to be a sound investment in the future of western Nebraska,” Park said. “This generous gift will help countless students achieve their dreams for generations to come.”
A four-year institution in northwest Nebraska with more than 70 programs of study, CSC is one of three members of the Nebraska State College System. Its official territory encompasses the western half of the state.
