Eagle golfers finish Grizzly Invite in eighth place

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Chadron State women’s golf team shot a round of 361 during the final day of the Grizzly Invitational hosted by Adams State College and claimed an eighth place finish with a two-day total of 732, just edging out Colorado State University-Pueblo.

The Eagles, who cut 10 strokes off their total from Monday’s opening round, were competing in their first tournament of the year.

Mesa State, which was led by four golfers in the top 10, ran away with the team title and shot a two-day score of 637. Montana State-Billings was second with a 660 and Regis was third with a 668.

Sara Wissing of Nebraska-Kearney carded a 78 on Tuesday and shot 153 over 36 holes to claim the top individual honor.

Alissa Peterson led the CSC golfers with an 84 during the final round and she shot a 177 to finish in the top 30.

Allison Rowden tied for 31st with a total of 180 and teammates Ashley Kurtz, Caitlin Parker and Michelle Haynes weren’t far behind. Kurtz carded a 186, Parker shot 189 and Haynes ended with 199.

Kurtz, Parker and Peterson each improved during the second day by at least three strokes.
