LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Chadron State women’s golf team improved its first round score by 28 strokes on Tuesday to claim seventh place at the final Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference event of the fall season at Applewood Golf Course in Arvada, Colo.
The Eagles, who were in ninth place after 18 holes, shot a season-low round of 344 during the final day of the invite to leap into seventh place.
Mesa State College, which entered the final round trailing Fort Hays State by one stroke, shot a 323 on Tuesday to finish with a two-day total of 660, edging the Tigers by one stroke.
Mesa State’s Jennifer Hilts finished first individually with a 157 and her teammate, Sadie Peavler, was second with 160.
All five of the CSC golfers improved their scores during the final round. Allison Rowden and Alissa Peterson each shaved three and five strokes respectively. Both shot rounds of 173 to pace the Eagles.
Also for CSC, Caitlin Parker carded a 184, Michelle Haynes, who cut 14 strokes off her first day score, shot a 186, and Ashley Kurtz finished with 211.
After the fall season, CSC is in fifth place in the RMAC standings. Montana State Billings and Fort Hays State are tied for first. Western New Mexico and Mesa State are tied for second , Nebraska-Kearney is third, and CSU-Pueblo is fourth.
