CHADRON – Nine Chadron State College students who are members of the Art Guild and two alumni will teach workshops at the Girl Scouts ArtVenture Day beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday in Memorial Hall. The collaborative venture has been hosted at CSC for seven years, according to Mary Donahue, professor of Art.
The art pieces will be entered in a silent auction at a later date to raise funds for the local Girl Scouts. Some past items have also qualified for the state Girl Scouts auction in North Platte, according to Whitney Tewahade, a CSC graduate.
Tewahade will teach students how to dye fabric with Indigo, a plant-based dye. Students will also quilt on the fabric to add an extra dimension.
Jessica Rawlings of Kimball, Nebraska, and Rylie Cole of Minden, Nebraska, will teach Abstract Acrylic Painting, a process that involves using and layering colors.
Tristan Stephenson of Alliance, Nebraska, and Matt Ellis of Chadron will teach Observational Acrylic Painting, a traditional painting in the representational style based on the artist looking at and using objects from real life.
Kayla Reinke of Pierce, Nebraska, Chris Wright of Gering, Nebraska, and Savannah Weidauer of St. George, Utah, will lead a Mixed-Media Collage session.
Emma Jurewicz of Gillette, Wyoming, and Hannah Conner of Orient, Ohio, will lead a Clay Molding session.
CSC graduate Teena Redfern will teach Digital Photography for seventh grade and older students. The students will combine their images to create a landscape.
