Chadron State College students and faculty will host an informative session for the community and campus regarding their recent capstone trip to Cuba Thursday at the Bean Broker in Chadron. The forum, which will include photos and impressions from a nine-day study abroad experience in Cuba, begins at 7 p.m.
Dr. Deane Tucker and Dr. Tom Smith led the trip which was the culmination of Cuba Libre, an upper-division capstone course in the Essential Studies Program which is required for graduation.
One of the most profound experiences the group had occurred in a plane between Houston and Denver on Dec. 17. That’s when Chadron State College students and faculty learned of the announcement from the White House regarding the restoration of full diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Students on the trip were: Broc Anderson of Alliance, Neb., Rachel Camargo of Blair, Neb., Neyva Flores of Arthur, Neb., Andrew Harper of Harper, Ore., Katrina Hurley of Seward, Neb., Kirby Krogman of White River, S.D., Tricia Lahoma Mitnik of McCook, Neb., Troy Meuret of North Platte, Neb., and Dillon Spies of Grand Island, Neb.
