The incoming class this fall at Chadron State College is comprised of 461 freshmen, 169 transfers and 118 graduate students. These numbers reflect an increase of 38 freshmen from last October and a slight decrease of nine in transfer students.
The incoming class of 2,848 represents 22 countries, 46 states and Puerto Rico. Fifty-six percent are from Nebraska followed by Wyoming with 12 percent, Colorado at eight percent and South Dakota at seven percent.
The new students range in age from 17 to 70 and 43 percent are first generation college students in their families.
In the entire student body, there are 422 enrolled, undergraduate, degree-seeking students who entered CSC as a freshman with a composite ACT of 25 or above. Forty of these students scored an ACT composite of 30 or above. There are 111 degree-seeking students enrolled at CSC who were either the valedictorian or salutatorian of their high school graduating class.
Dr. Randy Rhine, president of CSC, shared these statistics and other pertinent campus information with faculty and staff gathered for a semester kick-off meeting last Friday.
