LINCOLN, Neb. - Chadron State College's outgoing student representative on the Nebraska State College System's Board of Trustees, Morgan Nelson, plans to enroll in graduate school at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, where she will earn a Master of Public Service and Administration degree through the Bush School of Government and Public Service.
Nelson, a Norfolk native, is a senior majoring in legal studies at CSC. She is the daughter of Robert and Mary Jo Nelson of Norfolk. During the past year, Nelson has served as a student trustee on the NSCS Board of Trustees, representing the students' perspective and concerns regarding various issues facing the board.
As a student at Chadron State, Nelson has participated as a student leader in numerous roles, including planning and hosting the first Nebraska State College System Conference in 2011, serving as the president and an at-large member of the student senate and working as a resident hall advisor on campus.
Nelson said, “I am excited about attending graduate school and earning a degree in public policy analysis. For the last few years, I was not sure whether I wanted to go into law or public policy, but serving as a student trustee has helped shape my plans and made me realize that I want to work in government at some level. Government policy is my passion and my goals include serving my community and making a difference.”
Nebraska State College System Chancellor Stan Carpenter said Morgan represents the kind of students enrolled at the state colleges."They are committed to doing well in college and their hard work has paid off," he said.
