Coming up: The Senior Art show, "Take Five," featuring work by 5 graduating CSC art majors—Brittany DeBord, Nichole Folchert, Chris Green, Kelly Overshiner, and Tiffany Schank opens in the Main Gallery of Memorial Hall. A public reception will be Fri., Mar. 29 from 4-6 pm. The show runs Mar. 20 - April 10, 2013. Following will be the All-Student Show, a juried art show of CSC student work which runs April 15 through the end of the semester.
•The CSC faculty (Laura Bentz, Richard Bird, Mary Donahue, Nancy Sharps, Daniel Binkard, Dewayne Gimeson, and Don Ruleaux) exhibited their work Feb. 11- Mar. 15 in the Main Gallery. The colorful CSC Faculty Art Show featured multi-media/assemblages, clay, glass, graphic design, metal point drawings, paintings, photography, and motion picture work.
•Current CSC art/graphic design students traveled to Omaha to attend the annual Meet the Pros conference, Feb. 10-12. Arielle Boone, Nichole Folchert, Kevin Kubo, Emily Sample, and Ashley Young participated in inspiring sessions given by advertising and design professionals. Students also had their portfolios evaluated by professionals in the field.
•CSC art alum, Travis Hencey had a show in Omaha at the Nebraska Arts Council’s Fred Simon Gallery. More info at Nebraska Arts Council.
•Four recent CSC alumni (3 art majors and 1 communications arts major) came back to visit classes and talk about their jobs at Cabela's on Jan. 22. CSC Art alums Ross Glassburn, Carrie Haskell, and Mikaela Brummer now work as graphic designers in Cabela’s Corporate Sales group. Summer internships are available for students with information on the Cabela's website.
•CSC Art Guild students hosted an Art Day of hands-on art workshops for area Girl Scout students on Jan. 19 in conjuction with the statewide artVenture program for Girl Scouts. Workshops included painting, drawing, clay and graphic design. A reception for the Girl Scout artists is Sat., Mar. 23 in the Sandoz Center.
•Visiting artist, Nita Kehoe from Central Wyoming College spoke to several art classes about her art. Her sculpture work was exhibited along with two other CWC faculty (photographer Lonnie Sharp and painter Matt Flint) in the Main Gallery Jan. 7 - Feb. 1.
