Chadron State College senior Megan Dimmitt of Alliance is getting used to wearing a crown, especially this week.
Dimmitt was crowned Chadron State’s homecoming queen Thursday, Oct. 25, just days after winning the title of Miss Northwest during the Miss Chadron-Miss Northwest Scholarship Pageant on Sunday, Oct. 21.
Another senior from northwest Nebraska, Donald Hlava of Gordon, topped the vote-getters for king to share the spotlight with Dimmitt on Thursday.
The queen, a Chadron State cheerleader, is a graduate of Alliance High School studying criminal justice. She was nominated by the Criminal Justice Club. By winning the Miss Northwest title this weekend, she earned her third trip to the Miss Nebraska competition.
Hlava, a graduate of Gordon-Rushville High School, is pursuing a major in business administration. He was nominated by the College Republicans Club.
The king and queen, along with the other top four vote-getters in each category, were revealed during the spirit rally in Armstrong Gym.
Others who finished in the top five for queen, in alphabetical order, are Tess Clemetson of Riverton, Wyo., Amy Graham of Valentine, Sarah Kingsbury of Winner, S.D., and Kassy Thompson of Crawford.
Rounding out the voting in the king competition were Tell Deatrich of Curtis, Kyle Duarte of Glendale, Ariz., Bryce Harrington of Grand Island, and Sam Parker of Harrison.
