Flutist Franziska Nabb, a native of Munich, Germany, will perform during a rare summertime concert hosted by the Chadron State College Department of Music. The performance, which is open to the public free of charge, will be Monday, July 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chicoine Atrium of the Sandoz Center.
Nabb will present a recital of classical flute favorites, in addition to a few newer compositions for lute and piano, accompanied by CSC faculty member Dr. Jim Margetts.
Nabb, who teaches flute and German at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, has presented recitals in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and the United States. She holds a performance degree from the Robert-Schumann Institute for Music in Dusseldorf, Germany. She has been a member of several symphony orchestras in Germany and the United States.
Nabb is a member of the Kearney Symphony Orchestra and is an active chamber musician. She performs regularly in the UNK Woodwind Quintet, the Flubano Trio, the Highfalutin flute group, and The Trans-Nebraska Players, an ensemble with members from UNK, the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and CSC.
This will be Nabb’s second visit to Chadron, but her first as a flutist. She previously performed at CSC with the Trans-Nebraska Players in 2010.
Margetts is a frequent musical collaborator within the region, having recently performed in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and various Nebraska locales. He holds degrees in piano performance from Brigham Young University and the University of Cincinnati.
