Hunt named Central Region Men’s Field Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – Chadron State College’s Cody Hunt was named the Central Region Men’s Field Athlete of the Year Thursday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Hunt, along with teammates Alyssa Norton and Jazmyn Webster, will compete at the NCAA Division II National Championships, beginning Thursday, May 24 in Pueblo, Colo.

Hunt, a junior from Lingle, Wyo., was undefeated in the shot put this year and enters next week’s national championship as the overall No. 3 seed in the event with a school-record throw of 63-4 ¾. Hunt was the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference champ in the event and fourth in the discus at the conference championship.
