NEW ORLEANS – Eight Chadron State College track and field student-athletes were recently honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as all-region honorees for outdoor track and field in Division II.
The top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region’s top three earn the all-region distinctions for the 2012 outdoor season.
Three of the five CSC men are double honorees. They are Dean Francis in the 100 and 200 meters, and Cody Hunt and Charith Kapukotuwa in the shot put and discus.
Steven Richendifer in the pole vault and Lincoln Proud in the 400 hurdles also represent the CSC men on the all-region squad.
The women’s honorees are Alyssa Norton in the discus, Jazmyn Webster in the high jump and Kaelie Jelden in the pole vault.
A total of 1,274 athletes receive 1,854 USTFCCCA All-Region nods.
On the men’s side, MSU Moorhead’s Derek Bredy led the nation with seven all-region performances,. For the indoor season, Bredy led the nation with six all-region nods.
Ashland’s Cheryl Bourne, Johnson C. Smith’s Samantha Elliott, San Francisco State’s Keenya McDaniel, Central Missouri’s Lindsay Lettow, and New Mexico Highland’s Jillisa Grant led all women with five all-region recognitions apiece.
