Three Chadron State College track and field student-athletes have qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 24-26 at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl in Pueblo, Colo.
All three will compete in field events. They are Cody Hunt in the shot put, Alyssa Norton in the discus and Jazmyn Webster in the high jump.
Hunt, a junior from Lingle, Wyo., and an All-American in the shot put indoors, owns the third best mark in Division II entering the championships. He heaved the shot 63-feet, 4 ¾-inches at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on May 7.
Norton, a sophomore from Rushville, sailed the discus 159-8 last weekend at a last chance meet, which is the 12th best throw this season in Division II.
Webster, a sophomore from Cheyenne, Wyo., will be making her fourth-straight trip to the national meet in the high jump. She set a school record by jumping 5-9 ¾ this season. That mark ranks her among the top five in the event.
