Three student-athletes recently signed National Letters of Intent to play softball at Chadron State College.CHADRON – The Chadron State College softball team has signed three players from Colorado, head coach Rob Stack announced Monday.
They are Shea Graham and Taylor Cobb of Colorado Springs, and Caroline Johnson of Firestone.
“All three of these girls have come from successful high school programs and that lured me to look at them and how’d they fit for our program,” Stack said. “Each of them has unique abilities that will help us during their time at Chadron State. I’m excited to get them on campus.”
Cobb, who played second and third base as well as left field, was a four year varsity player and was her team’s MVP three seasons. Following her senior campaign at Cheyenne Mountain in which she hit .554 and drove in 39 runs, she was named to both the all-state and all-area first teams. She was also an all-conference choice two times.
Graham, Cobb’s teammate at Cheyenne Mountain, played in the infield and outfield. She batted .551 as a senior and was a career .380 hitter. She was a two-time all-conference and all-area player and was also named all-state. She has also had a solid career for the Colorado Quicksilver 18 and under team.
Johnson, a pitcher and captain at Frederick High, went 3-3 in the circle as a senior. She also played a variety of infield positions when not pitching and hit .324, scored 25 runs and stole 18 bases. She also posted a fielding percentage of .900 and won her team’s Golden Glove Award.
Johnson is also a stellar student. She was one of six valedictorians at her school and is a member of the National Honor Society.
In December, Stack signed six student-athletes during the early signing period.
Four of the signees are high school seniors in Colorado, excluding Kylee Polsley, who is currently a sophomore pitcher at Iowa Western Community College, and Megan Vincent, who is a senior pitcher and third baseman at Del Norte High School in Poway, Calif.
The Colorado recruits are Breeze Phillips a pitcher and outfielder from Evergreen, Katelyn Kruger a corner infielder from Highlands Ranch, Caity Pelayo a catcher and infielder from Parker, and Rebekah Anthony a second baseman and outfielder from Monument.
