For budgetary reasons, the Library Learning Commons (LLC) has not renewed a handful of databases for the previous academic years. Nonrenewal decisions were not easy to make. All of the databases that the LLC subscribes to underwent extensive analysis to determine usage, scope of content, content duplication, availability of alternatives, cost per download, and cost per user. Based on these criteria, and after thorough discussions among the librarians, we determined that some databases should not be renewed. Fortunately, we do not expect any major disruptions in our ability to provide quality content to CSC library patrons. The nonrenewed databases were generally duplicated (in other databases to which we subscribe) or remarkably underutilized.
Proposals for each of the databases selected for nonrenewal were developed and included a description of the content the database provided, usage/duplication statistics, database cost, cost per download, cost per user, titles that were no longer be available, and content alternatives for no longer available titles. To download nonrenewal proposals, click on the name of the database for which you are interested in seeing the proposal.
If any content previously supplied by these databases is required for your research or teaching, we can obtain it for you via interlibrary loan. To request content via interlibrary loan, please visit the LLC’s interlibrary loan page or email the Public Services Librarian in charge of ILL, Christine Fullerton. The LLC strives to make quality content available to its patrons and will strive to accommodate any article or newspaper request that may be affected by our decision not to renew these databases. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
