Meet Natsuki!

Natsuki

Name: Natsuki Sato

Major: Applied Music

Country: Oita, Japan

Favorite food: Mexican food! I'd never had it until I got here and I fell in love with it!

Favorite color: White

Favorite place to travel: Tropical islands

The most interesting book you've read and why OR movie you have watched and why: "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro. It is about clone human beings cultivated to donate organs in Britain. I love the way the author tells their emotions in such a calm tone though their hearts scream to live like normal people so that they can keep their friends and relationships as their human rights. It has a bit of a dark theme but such a sophisticated prose that stirs my heart.

What do you like to do outside of class/study-time (weeknights or weekends)? My life is consumed by practicing piano all day every day.

Tell us about a positive experience you have had with a professor. I have had a piano teacher that cared about how I was doing with my college life and every time we had lesson he always encouraged me not to be afraid of performing in front of people. He hugged me like my dad when I cried after the first two performances and I am still so grateful about that.

Clubs, groups, activities you participate/have participated in on campus: An annual theater project, Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, International Ambassador and Peer Mentor Program

Favorite CSC class or class project: Music Theory Lab! It's so cool to see my ears improve to dictate notes and harmonies every class session!

Do you live on or off campus? I use to live on campus my freshman year but I currently live off campus.

Favorite quote or saying: This is from my piano teacher, he told me to say this to myself when I bow after the performance as I tend to bow very fast and run to the exit, "Have I shined my shoes? Yes, I've shined my shoes."

What excites you the most about being an International Ambassador? Above all the chance to talk and interact more international students! I want people to know more about Chadron State College and help students who are thinking about studying abroad.

Do you have any passions or hobbies? Piano, cooking, reading. These three together and my life is complete.

Tell us a random fact about yourself. I am Pisces. If you read any description of Pisces all my information is there.

What do you miss the most about home? Japanese food. I only had Japanese food the first week when I got back to Japan just because that is the only thing I was craving for. And as I am writing this I miss the taste of my grandma's rice balls.

What do you plan to do after you complete your degree? I want to work full time in Japan but if there is a better job offer in the States then I might just stay.
