Each resident is required to sign a Housing Contract when assigned an apartment. Tenants may occupy the apartment no earlier than the date specified in the letter of assignment. Apartment reservations are honored for only one day after the specified move-in date, unless notification is received by the Housing Office of late arrival.
Tenants arriving during business hours (7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday) should report to the Housing Office in Crites Hall. The lessee will receive apartment keys and an inventory card to complete. The inventory card is used to record furnishings and damages in the apartment, and should be signed and returned to the Housing Office when completed. Mailbox keys will be issued upon return of the inventory card.

Should a tenant plan to move into the apartment at any time other than these hours, over a holiday, or during a weekend, call the Housing Office at 308.432.6355 so that arrangements can be made to leave keys at the High Rise front desk.
Only the leesee, spouse, and/or their children may reside in the apartment. Guests are not permitted to remain over three days. Guests or relatives who are enrolled at Chadron State College are not permitted to live in the same apartment.
CSC Apartment occupants should use the following guidelines when checking out of an apartment:
No refunds will be made unless this procedure is followed.
Chadron State College assumes no liability for loss, damage, or theft of personal property; damage or injury resulting from explosion, fire, mechanical failure of water, steam, defective wiring, or negligence of any other occupants of the apartments. It is the tenants responsibility to obtain renters insurance through a company of their choice if so desired.
All motorized vehicles (excluding motorcycles) operated by residents of CSC Apartments must have a valid parking hangtag. Parking hangtags are valid from the first day of classes of the fall semester to the same time the subsequent fall semester. Hangtags and a copy of the "Campus Parking Regulations" may be obtained at the Business Office. Occupants shall obey the speed limits and be especially viligant for children.
Under no circumstances are residents to drive autos, trucks, motorcycles, trailers, or any other vehicle within the CSC Apartments complex, on the lawns, or on the sidewalks. No vehicle, unless currently used by the occupant, is to be parked in the designated apartment parking area. All vehicles within the vicinity of the apartments which are of no apparent use to the residents of the units will be towed away at the expense of the owner. Horse trailers or boats may not be parked or kept in the CSC Apartment area.
Smoking is not allowed in CSC Apartments, or in public spaces (laundry rooms, playgrounds, and other public meeting areas). Sanctions for students who smoke in smoke-free areas may include warnings from the Housing and Residence Life staff, community service, or termination of the housing contract. This policy is in place to promote and support the health of all students and staff.
The possession of alcoholic beverages or the possession, use, sale, transportation, or manufacturing of controlled substances as defined by the Nebraska Statutes is prohibited on the Chadron State College campus. Students found in possession of alcohol on campus may be enrolled in the colleges Drug and Alcohol Awareness class. Repeated violation of this policy may result in suspension. Gambling in the State of Nebraska is also prohibited.
The use or possession of firearms, ammunition (including firecrackers) and archery equipment is prohibited in the apartment units. Firearms, ammunition, and archery equipment is to be registered with the Housing Office, who will make arrangements to store them in a designated secure area. In storing firearms, trigger locks will be utilized at all times the firearm is on campus. Students may not store firearms in their vehicles. Firearms, ammunition, or archery equipment found not registered with the Housing Office will be confiscated for a specific period of time and stored at the Chadron Police Department. Failure to comply with any provision of this policy may result in the immediate removal from CSC Apartments.
Students assigned a CSC Apartment will be notified of the apartment address and the date on which it will be available for occupancy.
Rent Payments are to be made at the Business Office which is located on the west end of the first floor in the Administration Building. The first month’s rent is due upon occupancy and thereafter is due on or before the first day of each month. Refunds are prorated on the basis of the daily rate of the last month of occupancy of the apartment. Delinquent rent shall be cause for eviction.
Occupants will not conduct or permit loud parties or activities that create disturbances or annoyances to other occupants. These apartments are not designed to accommodate large gatherings in social situations. The use of radios, television, stereos and other instruments must always be controlled so as not to disturb neighbors.
Watch – A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable for a tornado, and one may be possible. Warning – A tornado warning means that a tornado has actually been sighted. Warning information is given by the radio and television. The warning to seek shelter is also given by the continuous undulation (rising and falling) tone of the sirens.
IF A TORNADO SIREN IS HEARD: TUNE RADIOS TO 610 AM OR 97.5 FM, AND TELEVISIONS TO ANY CHANNEL EXCEPT HBO FOR EMERGENCY INSTRUCTIONS.
In the event of a tornado warning take shelter in an interior closet or in a room away from exterior walls and windows. If necessary, a mattress may be used against a window for safety purposes. Residents should have a good flashlight, blankets, and a battery powered radio in case of emergencies. Always report any fire! It may be small and insignificant, but it could be the origin of a larger fire. In case of fire call 9.9.1.1 and tell the dispacher the location of the fire and the apartment number. Notify all neighbors in the adjoining apartments and call the CSC Boiler House at 432.6226.
No pets, except fish, are allowed in CSC Apartments. If a pet is found to be in an apartment, the lessee will be given 12 hours to vacate the pet. If the pet is not removed, or another pet is found, it can result in the termination of the housing contract. This rule is strictly enforced for safety and sanitary reasons.
CSC Apartment units are not to be used for any commercial purposes. Soliciting for business, charity, or religious purposes on campus grounds or in campus buildings by anyone is prohibited.
The Assistant Director of Residence Life Programs (432.6403) must approve the posting of information on apartment hall bulletin boards. Posters and other advertisements may be posted on public bulletin boards only. Regulations prohibit individuals or clubs from posting materials on fire exit doors, windows, and in stairwells. information posted in these areas, or postings not approved by the Assistant Director of Residence Life Programs may be removed.
