Host Parent Program

CSC Students

History

The Host Parent Program is an exclusive program to Chadron State College. It is designed to help our students adjust to college life by creating a new home away from home. Chadron community members volunteer their time and homes to Chadron State College students. These community members range in age and come from diverse backgrounds and professions. As a CSC student, you are paired with host parents according to similar interests, skills, hobbies, religion, professions, and professional organizations as provided in the application. Host parents volunteer to be there for you when you need someone to talk to or listen to you.

You may also consult with them, ask for a favor or help with the resources in the community. Host parents may also provide a place to hang out and relax when you feel the need to get off campus. They may also offer involvement in their family, church, and community activities. Host parents are also there when you can use an uplifting smile, words of encouragement and support, or when you just need a home away from home! The experiences with host parents help a new student establish ongoing friendships with community members, as well as create a sense of security while meeting new challenges and testing new freedoms as a young adult.
