Saturday, October 4, 2013 – 9:30 AM start
Prior registration is not needed; all entries will be placed in order as arrived, so the earlier arrival, the closer to the front. All entries need to be in the designated location below by 9:00 AM, because all entries (excluding bands) will be judged at that time!
The parade route is from 1st & Main Street to 10th & Main Street (heads south toward campus). Please either head east or west on 10th street at the end of route
Entries will be announced in front of the Eagle Theater, Dawes County Courthouse, and at the 6th Street crossing of Main. All entries will receive 3 note cards upon arrival to write down organization name, description of floats, etc. Entry will be responsible for keeping cards to hand-off to a designated runner for announcement at each location.
Parade Marshal: the 2014 Homecoming Parade Marshal will be announced at a late date.
Float Entries – line up on the north side of WEST 1st STREET (face east to pull onto Main St). Please leave enough room on 1st street for traffic to get through.
Vehicle Entries – will line-up on the north side of EAST 1st STREET (face west to pull onto Main St). Please be aware that bands will be joining the parade from Bordeaux, so be on the north curbside. If an entry is a vehicle pulling a trailer, it is a float; see above.
Bands will line-up on Bordeaux Street, facing north – this is one block east of Main St, and bands will pulled into the parade via 1st Street.
Walking Entries – will line-up on the east sidewalk along 1st street – you will randomly be included in the flow.
Horse Entries – line-up on the north side of the railroad tracks on Main.
The Chadron City Council has authorized a rule for parade sponsors to preclude the activity of throwing candy from parade vehicles and horses. If you wish to distribute candy or other items, please have someone walking beside your entry doing so.
