About the Foundation

Greetings from the Foundation!!

The Foundation just received a very generous gift of $500,000 from Frances Hess Richards for the benefit of elementary education majors. Frances and her late husband, Eby, established the endowment several years ago. Frances decided to make this gift from her estate in her lifetime so that students can begin to immediately benefit. Her remaining estate will be used for a naming opportunity in the library, which is being renovated, and to the endowment. Frances received her degree from Chadron State in 1944, and was a librarian at CSC from 1948-1956.

Education remains the # 1 degree program at Chadron State. The college has maintained its excellent reputation in producing quality teachers, and this endowment will help current and future students realize their dream of becoming a teacher.

We are forever grateful to Frances, and to all of our donors, for the philanthropic spirit that keeps Chadron State a strong, viable institution of higher education for many years to come. Thank you!
