Two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded.

Applicants must:

• Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student
• Be enrolled at an accredited institution in the United States

• Majoring in Accounting, Finance or Information Systems

Central Platte Natural Resources District

The Central Platte Natural Resources District (CPNRD) will provide 10 students with $1,000 scholarships for the upcoming school year. Ethel Louise Armstrong Foundation

   Application Deadline: June 1st - All applications must be received by 5:00 pm in order to be considered. There will be no exceptions.

Applicants must:

• Be a female Graduate student with disabilities
• Enrolled in a college or university in the United States
• Be active in local, state, or national disability organizations-either in person or electronically-that provides services and/or advocacy for people with disabilities.
• Show academic and leadership merit

Fred Wanek Music Scholarship

   Application Deadline: March 1

Applicant must:

• Be enrolled as a full-time music major and demonstrate deserving proficiency in musical talent
• Permanent residence must be in counties of Customer, Dawson, Frontier, Hayes, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, or Perkins of Nebraska
• Funds will be used to provide private music lessons, either vocal or instrumental, for which there is a charge beyond regular tuition, books, housing, food, and clothing necessary for non-musician college students

Gus Swanson Memorial Communications Scholarship

   Application Deadline: March 16

The Gus Swanson Memorial Communications Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is available to qualified students.

Applicants must:

• Have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
• In their Sophomore year or above
• Be majoring in a communications related program including Advertising, Marketing, Mass Communications (print or broadcast), Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism or Graphic Design/Desktop Publishing
• Be enrolled at least part-time in a Nebraska college or university

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund is the nation's leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education.

Applicant must:

• Be an employee of a Lincoln Builders Bureau member company, or the dependent of an employee.
• Be enrolled, or planning to enroll as an undergraduate in the upcoming year of an accredited college, university, or trade school with a focus on construction science.

Two $1000 Scholarships are available broken down to $500 each semester.

• Enrolled full-time in a college in Nebraska

• Be employed by Union Pacific Railroad or have a parent employed by same.
• Have an academic record with at least a C average.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Selection criteria also include: personal and work history; education and career goals and relevant planned course of study; character references; and motivation and ability to succeed. In addition, interest in outdoor avtivities, a history of working and evidence of ability to work well with other people shall be considered positive factors.
• Scholarship may be renewed upon re-application and selection from among all applicants.

National Association of Broadcasters

   Application Deadline: January 31

Purpose: The program is intended to fund research on economic, business, social, and policy issues important to station managers and other decision-makers in the U.S. commercial broadcast industry.

Eligibility: The competition is open to all academic personnel. Graduate students and senior undergraduates are invited to submit proposals.

Awards: There is a total of $25,000 in available funding. NAB typically awards four to six grants. Funds are not to be used for overhead or benefits. Grants are disbursed in two equal installments: one after a contract has been signed, and the second upon receipt of the final report, due one year later.

National Association of Women in Construction

   Application Deadline: March 14

Recipients are chosen each year from any of the following institutions: UNO, UNL, any technical or trade school, any graduating high school Senior or any other institutions the Scholarship Awards Committee sees beneficial to our goal of promoting the construction career option.

• Maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
• Maintain at least twelve credit hours per term

National Federation of the Blind

   Application Deadline: March 31

The National Federation of the Blind gives a broad array of scholarships to recognize achievement by blind scholars. All applicants for these scholarships must be legally blind and pursuing or planning to pursue a full-time, post-secondary course of study in a degree program at a United States institution in the Fall of 2006.

NPFDA (National Poultry & Food Distributors Association) Scholarship Foundation Inc.

Four $1,500 scholarships are awarded to students in the fields of poultry science, food science, agricultural economics/marketing, nutrition and all other areas of study related to the poultry industry.

Nebraska Bankers Association Scholarships

   Application Deadline: January 31st

The Nebraska Bankers Association offers up to eight $1,000 annual scholarships.

Applicants must:

• Be a legal resident of Nebraska
• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting or Economics
• Be attending one of the Nebraska state or privately funded colleges or universities (excluding the University of Nebraska)
• Be at a college Junior or Senior level
• Submit a completed scholarship application form, required essay, and a letter of recommendation from a bank officer of an NBA-member financial institution.

Nebraska Cooperative Council Education Foundation

Nebraska Cooperative Council Education Foundation Scholarship Program in honor of Michael S. Turner is offering one $650 scholarship.

Applicants must:

• Be an upperclass student majoring or minoring in Agribusiness
• For sons/daughters of a parent/legal guardian who has been an active member, director, or employee for at least the prior three (3) years of a cooperative which has been a member in good standing of the Council for the past five (5) years - scholarship(s) will be awarded without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, or disability

Nebraska Human Services Association

   Deadline: March 15

Applicants must:

• Be a Junior/Senior enrolled in an approved college or University in Nebraska
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in social services (social work, counseling, human development and the family or another field closely linked in a practice to helping people)
• Demonstrate financial need
• NOT receive a scholarship more than once
• Accompany the application with a letter of reference from the student's advisor or Dean and indicate academic merit

Two $500 scholarships will be awarded.

• Be a Nebraska resident

• Pursuing a career in Family & Consumer Sciences, Textiles & Design, Quilt or Museum Studies, or related field of interest

Nebraska Juvenile Justice Association (NJJA)

   Deadline: April 6

The NJJA is a private non-profit association organized in 1975 by professionals concerned with the need for ongoing training and education in the Juvenile Justice System. The purpose of NJJA is to promote quality and improvement of services to juveniles in the following manner:

1. Provide continuing education of persons, provide services to youth within the juvenile justice system;
2. Recognize an outstanding student in the area of criminal justice or associated field by awarding a scholarship each year;
3. Present a Service to Youth award each year to a person who exemplifies education and leadership in the field of juvenile justice.

A merit scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to one applicant.

Applicant must:

• Attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school in Nebraska full-time;
• Major in Criminal Justice or a related field, i.e. Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, etc. with a desire to work with juveniles;
• Have a Junior or Senior class status;
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
• Submit an essay not to exceed two typed pages. The essay should include the following information:

The Nebraska Legal Professionals Association

The Nebraska Legal Professionals Association is providing a First Place $1000 scholarship and a Second place $500 scholarships for students wanting a career in law or the legal support profession.

Omaha Volunteers for Handicapped Children

$1000 MINIMUM, Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarship is divided into two priorities:

1. To assist the orthopedically impaired and/or the physically disabled to further their education beyond high school
2. To assist those who serve the orthopedically impaired and/or the physically disabled in their pursuit that leads to quality of life and their quest to be a contributing member to their environment

For Priority 1 - Applicants must:

• Be a high school Senior or college student
• Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Nebraska
• Either be a high school Senior with a 2.25 or C+ equivalent GPA
• and a high school Senior accepted into the school of their choice
• or a college student enrolled and making satisfactory progress toward graduation

Submit an essay of not more than 250 works on what their goal is for the future in relation to the orthopedically impaired and/or physically disabled, and their need for this scholarship.

For Priority 2 - Applicants must:

• Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Nebraska
• Be enrolled in a higher education course in the school of their choice
• Be in pursuit of a Teaching or Health-related degree, with emphasis on the orthopedically impaired and/or physically disabled
• Making satisfactory progress toward their degree

Offers 50 scholarships to graduating high school Seniors throughout the 93 Nebraska counties for up to four consecutive years of study at any public or private accredited college or university in Nebraska.

Applicants must:

• Be at least 1/4 Native American
• Live off of the Reservation in the Panhandle area

Offers up to ten $2,000 scholarships to outstanding college juniors and seniors studying wildlife sciences.

West Nebraska Blood Center Scholarship Fund
   Application Deadline: April 30

West Nebraska Blood Center, the blood donor center at Regional West Medical Center, established this scholarship fund to promote the field of laboratory medicine. The scholarships are awarded each year to undergraduate students pursuing a career in laboratory medicine. The scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, books and related expenses.

The recipients of the scholarships will be determined based on academic performance, interest/experience in healthcare, and financial need. Special consideration will be given to students who are residents of the Nebraska Panhandle and Eastern Wyoming.
