Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

Your EFC is indicated on both our Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR) and your official Acknowledgment form. The EFC is calculated from the information provided on your FAFSA and usually reflects the amount you and your family can be expected to contribute. The Financial Aid Office uses this number to determine your financial aid need. The EFC also determines your Pell Grant eligibility. Your EFC and your eligibility for Pell Grant is the same wherever you decide to attend.

Financial Aid Need

Financial aid need is figured by the following formula:

COA - EFC = Financial Need or Eligibility for Need-Based Aid

Eligible students are awarded most aid on a first-come, first-serve basis without regard to race, color, sex, age, national origin, or disability. The types of aid awarded to each student will depend on the student's need, as well as the availability of funds, EFC, and the student’s aid type preferences. Students should keep in mind, however, that no aid will be awarded until all required documents are received and processed through the Financial Aid Office. You may view your Required Documents link on your MyCSC account under the Financial Aid section.

Receiving Outside Scholarship/Resources

If you receive scholarships, grants, tuition waiver assistance, veteran's benefits, or any other assistance through an agency or organization other than CSC, you must report that assistance to the CSC Financial Aid Office so it can be included in your total financial aid package. As a financial aid recipient, you are legally required to keep the CSC Financial Aid Office informed of all resources received from outside agencies or organizations. If you receive additional awards from other agencies or organizations any time during the award year, we may have to adjust your Federal Student Financial Aid award or you may be required to return a portion of your Federal Student Financial Aid. If you have/are going to be receiving outside aid, please complete the CSC Outside Scholarship Notification Form.

College is Affordable

CSC offers grants, work-study and student and parent loans to help with college costs. The cost to attend college throughout the nation has been on the rise especially in the last few years. CSC has not been exempt to these increases but still has remained among the most affordable four-year college in the United States. It is our goal to continue to provide the quality education for a manageable price. Currently, our students graduate with a bachelor's degree with an average student loan debt of $12,000 making repayment very manageable.

Since obtaining a bachelor's degree improves your earning potential by almost twice as much as those who do not have bachelor's degrees, we hope we can help you obtain your bachelor's degree with the funds we have available and the costs we are offering.
