Insurance Requirements
Contrary to what is true in many other countries, medical care in the United States is not free, and in fact, may be quite expensive. For a relatively small cost, health and accident insurance protects you from having to pay potentially very large medical bills that can arise even from simple medical procedures. Insuring dependents that come with you also is advisable. Insurance requirements can be confusing. Contact the International Student Office at international@csc.edu if you need help.
- Prior to, and while enrolled at CSC, both undergraduate and graduate international students are required to acquire and maintain health and accident insurance that meets criteria set by Chadron State College. At the time of registration for classes, you will be required to provide written evidence (in English) of appropriate accident and health insurance coverage. Written evidence of continuing insurance is required prior to enrolling each semester. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER WITHOUT PROOF OF ADEQUATE HEALTH AND ACCIDENT COVERAGE.
- If you already have adequate insurance, provide the CSC International Student Service Counselor with documentation (copy of the policy pages showing specific coverage and effective dates in English) prior to the semester of enrollment. For as long as you are enrolled at CSC, you are required (every fall semester) to provide written evidence (in English) of continuing insurance coverage.
- If you do not have the required coverage, the College can arrange to enroll you in a plan that meets CSC minimum requirements. The College will charge you for the cost of the insurance policy. Details are available from the International Office at intenational@csc.edu.
