Employment Information
- Due to employment restrictions, international students on F-1 visas should not expect to work for compensation outside the College during their first academic year. Off-campus work permission is difficult to obtain and will not be considered by U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services during the first year of residence. International students may be employed on campus provided that their employment does not displace a U.S. citizen from working and that they are in good academic standing. While classes are in session, on-campus employment is limited to no more than 20 hours per week. On-campus employment for first year students is discouraged. Under no circumstances may a dependent of an F-1 student (F-2) be employed. If employment on campus cannot be found and F-1 visa holders meet the one year requirement, they have the option to apply for off-campus work authorization. While classes are in session on-campus and off-campus employment is limited to no more than 20 hours per week, however when classes are not in session F-1 holders do have the option to work more than 20 hours per week.
