Apply for International Admission

To apply for admission to Chadron State College as an international student, follow these eight steps. If you have any questions contact the International Office at international@csc.edu.

  • Step 1: Application
    Complete and submit the international application for admission.
    • The application deadline is June 1 of each year for the fall semester and November 1 for the spring semester.
    • Students seeking admission as a graduate student should also contact the Graduate Office.
    • United States citizens who are residing in countries outside of the United States should complete the admissions application.
  • Step 2: Academic Records
    Submit official copies of all previous academic credentials (transcripts) to the Admission’s Office, Chadron State College, 1000 Main Street, Chadron, NE 69337 U.S.A.
    • All academic credentials submitted must be either original records or certified true copies of the original records. All credentials must be submitted in a sealed envelop sent directly from the institution of origin.
    • These records must be signed and sealed by an official officer of each institution you attend and sent to the CSC Admission’s Office by those officials.
    • All foreign credentials must be officially translated into English.
    • Unofficial photocopies are not acceptable.
    • An official transcript of course work completed in the U.S. must be submitted from each college or university attended.
    • Students who are applying directly from their home countries, or who have not completed any course work in a U.S. high school, college, or university, are advised to have a B average (3.00 grade point on a 4.00 grading scale) or better to be considered for admission.
    • Students transferring from U.S. colleges or universities must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Step 3: Immunizations and Heath Form
    In addition to completing the health form attached to the application, submit a validated immunization record for measles, rubella, diphtheria/tetanus and proof of a negative tuberculosis skin test to the Admissions Office, Chadron State College, 1000 Main Street, Chadron, NE 69337 U.S.A. via postal mail.
    • This health form, immunization record, and tuberculosis skin test results must be submitted to CSC before a student is permitted to register for classes. Acceptable immunization evidence includes a doctor's note or official school records of immunization.
    • If you were born after 1956, documentation of two doses of MMR vaccine is required. The first MMR immunization must be given after 15 months of age. The second MMR immunization must be given between age 5 and adulthood.
    • Tuberculosis skin test must be completed within 6 months prior to first enrollment.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria booster must be within the last 10 years.
  • Step 4: English Language Skills
    This applies to undergraduate and graduate applicants 
    • Submit one of the following forms of evidence of English language proficiency.
      • A score of 550 or above on the paper-based Test if English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 79/80 or above for the Internet version. Or, a score of “6” or higher on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for only one year from the date they were completed.
      • An official letter from a non-U.S. institution of higher education where you attend or previously attended, and from which Chadron State College has a formal cooperative agreement, certifying your proficiency in English.
      • Official transcripts from an accredited college or university indicating satisfactory completion of one or more English language courses.
      • A minimum score of 18 on the American College Testing (ACT) English exam, or a composite score of 1320 on the Scholastic Achievement Test may be substituted for the TOEFL.
    • To register for the TOEFL and IELTS or to request that your official test scores be submitted to Chadron State College, go to www.toefl.org or www.ielts.org. Arrangements to take the TOEFL can also be made by writing to the Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ 08540, USA or by inquiring at the nearest U.S. Consulate.
    • All international applicants should ask to have test results sent to the Admissions Office, Chadron State College, Chadron, NE 69337 USA (code #6466).
  • Step 5: Financial Support Statement
    Submit the CSC International Applicant Financial Statement to the CSC Admission’s Office.
    • The financial statement must be completed and returned to CSC before admission is granted.
    • Applicants must have the financial capacity to pay tuition and fees, as well as costs for living expenses, for the duration of their attendance at CSC. If upon arrival, a student does not have the required funds, it will be necessary for CSC to notify the U.S Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services of failure to fulfill the requirements for a student visa.
    • Certification of adequate financial support for all international applicants is required. Admission will not be granted until proof of funds for the duration of study has been submitted.

  • Step 6: Personal Recommendations
    Though not required, a personal recommendation from instructors, sponsors, and other persons who can attest to the character and/or academic qualifications of the applicant will also be considered for international applicants. The recommendation should be sent to the International Office at Chadron State College.

  • Step 8: Complete and submit the United States Citizenship Attestation Form
    All non US citizen must read the LB 403 compliance document. In this document, you will see that you are exempt from being required to file the Attestation Form if you have an F1 visa and have been through the SEVIS process. If you do not have an F1 visa, you required to print off, sign and return the Attestation Form to the CSC Admissions office.
