Modeling Best Professional Practices in Scholarship

Professional education faculty demonstrate scholarly work in their fields of specialization. They are engaged in different types of scholarly work, based in part on the missions of their institutions.

Department faculty are expected to exhibit intellectual vitality and to engage in scholarly activity at the regional and national levels. The annual faculty evaluation process focuses, in part, on scholarly activities. Since 1997, Education faculty members have collectively produced 3 books, published 26 publications, and made 21 state and 16 international conference presentations. Of the 22 unit faculty, 17% have published or given a presentation at a national meeting and 21% have given a presentation at a State level meeting. Table 5.6 provides a summary of Faculty Regional & State Presentations, while Table 5.7 identifies Faculty National Presentations.
