Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Shuler is currently working as Adjunct Faculty at Chadron State College. Shuler holds an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University and has completed graduate work at the University of Illinois. Her primary clarinet teachers include J. David Harris, Robert Fitzer, and Joseph Edwards. At the moment, Mrs. Shuler is working on her doctoral thesis, which focuses on Benny Goodman's commissions of classical style chamber works involving clarinet.
Prior to working at CSC, Shuler worked as the Clarinet Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois and spent a number of years teaching music at the high school and middle school levels in both public and private schools. She continues to stay active as a clarinetist performing with the Champaign Urbana Symphony Orchestra. She has been heard in performances throughout the United States as well as abroad in Japan and Spain.
