Background

Dr. Schreuder is a native of Portland, Oregon and joined the Chadron State College Music Faculty in 2002 as the director of choral and vocal activities. He has studied choral conducting with Richard Sparks, Paul Klemme, and David Stocker; opera conducting with William Reber; and vocal jazz with Phil Mattson. During his course of study at Arizona State, Dr. Schreuder conducted the ASU Womenís Chorus and mentored students seeking a Masters in Choral Conducting. From 1996 to 1999, Dr. Schreuder was the head of the choral program at Bethel High School in Tacoma, Washington, and directed Pacific Lutheran Universityís vocal jazz ensemble, Park Avenue.

Dr. Schreuder has been very active in Nebraska and the surrounding High Plains region as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator. Since his arrival at CSC, he has conducted the High Plains Honor, Festival, and Menís Choirs as well as several district music festivals and honor choirs in Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota and Colorado. He served on the Nebraska Choral Directors' Association board as the chair of vocal jazz repertoire and standards from 2002 to 2008; he has also served as vice president of the Nebraska chapter of the International Association of Jazz Educators.
