The Counseling curriculum at Chadron State College offers Master’s level training in Community Counseling or School Counseling. Students can prepare to work professionally in various public and private counseling agencies, or within elementary or secondary school settings. The curricula in Community Counseling and School Counseling are designed to provide experiences that will allow students to seek licensure in Counseling and certification in School Counseling, respectively.
The mission of the Community Counseling program of the Counseling, Psychology and Social Work department at Chadron State College is to prepare quality professionals to pursue careers as community counselors in various public and private agencies and systems.
The mission of the School Counseling program of the Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work department of Chadron State College is to prepare quality professionals to be endorsed as school counselors who will meet the needs of students and educational settings of tomorrow.
The Community Counseling program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This program provides the required curriculum to obtain a counseling license in the state of Nebraska and Wyoming.
The School Counseling program is accredited by both the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
