Club Constitution and By-Laws

  • ARTICLE I. NAME AND OBJECTIVE
    • Section 1.
      • The name of this club shall be “CSC-International Club.”
    • Section 2.
      • The purpose of said club is to promote better understanding of American culture; to promote the interest of foreign students attending Chadron State College; and to assist new arriving foreign students with their problems of adjustment to the U.S. and college life.
    • Section 3.
      • The objective of this CSC-International Club, hereinafter referred to as CSC-IC, shall be:
        1. Brother-Sister
          Club members meet incoming international students upon arrival, host them and help them in general orientation throughout their stay.
        2. Hospitality
          Club members assist in finding housing; arranging educational tours; home visitations in coordination with the community; picnics; annual events such as Homecoming and Food Tasting Party; etc.
        3. Forum
          Activities which provide an intellectual flavor to the meetings in the form of lectures, lessons, and issues. Annual events to promote cultural awareness on campus and community.
  • ARTICLE II. MEMBERSHIP
    • Section 1.
      • Membership will be open to all students at Chadron State College. Interested community members are encouraged to attend meetings and activities but are not eligible for voting membership.
    • Amendment
      • "To be eligible for club benefits members must not miss more than 3 unexcused club meetings, per semester, and will be expected to participate in at least 50% of club activities per semester, outside of regular meetings.”
  • ARTICLE III. OFFICERS
    • Section 1.
      • The four officers of CSC-IC will be President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. A CAB Representative will be considered as volunteer.
    • Section 2.
      • The duties of the officers will be prescribed in the By-Laws. Officers shall be elected in the manner prescribed in the By-Laws.
    • Section 3.
      • The officers will be elected at the last club meeting of the school year, with their duties commencing at the same meeting. Officers shall not be eligible to succeed themselves in the same office for more than two terms.
    • Section 4.
      • At least one officer shall not be a Senior.
  • ARTICLE IV. THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
    • Section 1.
      • The Executive Board shall consist of the elected personnel of Article III, Section 1.
    • Section 2.
      • Said board shall meet at the call of the President for special meetings. The purpose of thereof shall be stated in the notice of said meeting.
    • Section 3.
      • The said board shall set up a plan for the year following their election in the last club meeting of the year. (This meeting is in conjunction with board members of the previous year).
  • ARTICLE V. SPONSORS
    • Section 1.
      • The said club has no less than two sponsors who shall be volunteer college faculty and/or staff.
    • Amendment
      • “The said club will have at least one sponsor who shall be volunteer college faculty and/or staff.”
  • ARTICLE VI. VACANCIES
    • Section 1.
      • A vacancy in an elective office shall be filled by election of the members.
    • Section 2.
      • Notice of such a withdrawal or vacancy must be brought before the members at the regular meeting.
  • ARTICLE VII. AMENDMENTS
    • Section 1.
      • This constitution and by-laws may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of members present at a meeting called for this purpose.
    • Section 2.
      • The proposed amendments must be brought up at one regular meeting and voted on at the following meeting.

By-Laws

  • ARTICLE I. DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS
    • Section 1.
      • President: The President will preside at all meetings and shall be chief executive officer of CSC-IC. He/She shall have general supervision over the development of its entire program. He/She shall make all committee appointments with the approval of a majority of the members present and voting.
    • Section 2.
      • Vice-President: The Vice-President shall perform the duties of the President in his/her absence.
    • Section 3.
      • Treasurer: The Treasurer shall keep a record of all money and transactions and shall report on the financial standing of the club at the request of the President or the club.
    • Section 4.
      • Secretary: The Secretary shall record, read and distribute minutes and agendas for each meeting.
  • ARTICLE II. MEETINGS
    • Section 1.
      • The regular meetings of CSC-IC shall be held twice a month depending on students’ schedules.
    • Section 2.
      • The annual election meeting shall be held on the last meeting of the year at the Student Center . The highest-ranking officer remaining from the presiding year shall conduct this meeting, and the new officers elected will take office at the same meeting.
    • Section 3.
      • Special meetings of CSC-IC shall be held on call of the President.
  • ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP
    • Section 1.
      • Prescribed by Article II, Section 1.
  • ARTICLE IV. DUES
    • Section 1.
      • Dues shall be paid by the year; the amount being left to the discretion of the members.
    • Section 2.
      • Dues shall be paid to the Treasurer before the fourth meeting of each semester.
